/So far in my blogs, I have written about nonsensical things that really had no meaning. This time however, with the chance (actually I was told) to write a longer entry, I hope to get some concrete ideas onto the web.
/I was listing to a song by John Reuben called “Breath” and one line he sings is “But it sure would be nice to leave the world around. So I run towards the Son to shed the Earth that surrounds”. I started thinking about it and it occurred to me that sometimes I feel like the world is too much and I would like to leave it (and/or my troubles) behind me. To do this; Reuben says to run toward the Son, who is Jesus, to “shed the Earth that surrounds”. I think that we as humans are sometimes compromised by the world and sometimes it takes leaving the world behind to get back on track spiritually. It is amazing that we are able to rely on Jesus to shed the Earth off us and bring us into his embrace.
/Now I’m not saying that we should leave the Earth to its own devices and focus only on getting ourselves to heaven, far from it. We should be focusing our efforts on taking as many people to heaven with us as possible. It is still important to step back sometimes and get refocused on God because like I said before, we can become compromised by the world. Once we do that, I found through experience that we can be empowed by God to compromise the world.

/I wish there was a magical, fast way to learn guitar. I want to know how to play really good right now and not have to work towards it. I know this sounds selfish and lazy but it will take so long to be anywhere near as good as some of the guys my age. Take a guy I hung out today for example. He just came into my room and picked up my guitar and played a couple of songs in quick succession right off the top of his head. He also played them almost flawlessly. He also said that the skill came with lots of practice. So I will have to put down my hopes of suddenly acquiring mad guitar skills and pick up my guitar and start practicing.

/Over the weekend, I went home for a time of rest and relaxation. When I came back to Providence, I brought along my Nintendo GameCube. My roommate and I are going to attempt to conquer the amazing Mario game, “Super Mario Sunshine”. So far in the last 2 days, we have accumulated 30 out of 120 “shine sprites”, the main item to collect in the game. The time spent accumulating these shiny stars could have been better spent reading our text books or working on various assignments, but running around in the Mushroom Kingdom is a whole lot more fun.
/Wow, I just proof read this blog and this sounds so nerdy!

friday

//blog12
/Today is Friday and I am done all my classes! I have nothing up this weekend at Providence College and I am going home. I will have a chance to see my family and see what is going on in Morden. I will also get to pet my cat Sniffy that I miss dearly. I am hoping to be back for supper so I have the evening at home to relax and see what new with all of them. Right now I have to pack up my car and start my hour and a half long drive home.

/For those of you who read my last post you know what I am talking about when I say ‘tater tots and I’m sure you all had sleepless nights wondering weather or not I would get my tots. Well never fear, I got my tots, and ate them too. I even had to go back for more! To make things even better, there was bacon right beside the tots that I got as well. I also washed all that down with some creamy chocolate milk and apple juice. The cafeteria workers are doing a good job (I say this now after I have eaten my ‘tater tots) and I have to say that the tots were perfectly cooked...as always.

/Today at breakfast, there were no ‘tater tots. Me and two other guys woke up early this morning and neither of us had any classes. We got out of our warm beds and into the cold cafeteria for those golden, crispy tots. But when we get there, there are no tots! Only the bigger, non bite-sized, triangle hash brown patties! They crumble when you try to stab them with a fork and they are too big to fit in your mouth all at once. “WE WANT TOTS!” was our silent cry. We are hitting up the breakfast bar again tomorrow and if we don’t get tots, bad things will happen.

/I am watching a movie while blogging today. The movie of choice today is Tropic Thunder. I have never heard so many “F-bombs” in a row before. The movie itself is very funny and the language is just an exaggeration of other action movies that have a lot of swears too. Everything in this movie is just an exaggeration of other action and war movies.
/It isn’t the worst one I’ve seen and some parts are really funny. If you can get passed the swearing and some vulgar jokes (which is hard at some points) then the movie I think is worth watching.

/Today was care group day here at Providence College. Care group, for those who don’t know, is when everyone in the dorm gets together for at time to get to know each other. This time we got together with one of the girl's dorms and we played games and got to know the people in a female dorm. This was really nice because I haven’t met anyone except form my own dorm. We had a really good time with snacks and games and I think I actually remembered one tenth of all the names. I am so proud.

/Today was a good food day here at Providence College. When I say good, I mean better than good since every day has good Prov food. For breakfast I had some “tater tots”, ham, bacon, grapes and a banana. To drink, I had 2 glasses of chocolate milk (yummy!).
/Then came lunch. Wow! Tasty lunch! I had a burger (my first Prov burger), a piece of meat lover’s pizza, some fries, and 2 cookies. I also had a glass of chocolate milk and one glass of Coka-Cola. Not the healthiest lunch but a good lunch none the less.
/I’m heading to supper right away so I can’t tell you how that is but I am sure it will shape up to be just as good as the other meals.

/I am really glad that I took Intro to the Bible & Christian Theology as class here at Providence College. It opens my eyes to things I wouldn’t have noticed if I didn’t.
/I will read the bible on my own time and think I am getting it all. I then go to the course mentioned above and the Professor fills in all the details and explains why things are written the way they are and how it portrays strong spiritual values or shows the splendour of God. I think that after this class I will have learned to read the bible with more attention to detail and I will get more out of it.

/Today in one of my classes (namely writing for the media) we were asked to conduct an interview on someone in the class sitting near us. The purpose of the exercise was to get us to write something in class to hone our skills. The questions we were to ask were ones that got us to know the other person better so this assignment had dual purposes. I tried to think of questions that would let me get to know my peer on a personal level and expand my knowledge of them beyond first name and colour of hair. What I came up with fell short of that mark. I asked where he grew up, where he would like to live, and what kind of cat or dog he would like to have. Those were the most insightful questions I could think of. But who knows, maybe in some way the knowledge that my classmate wants a small, brown terrier will help me get to know him on a deeper level. Hey, stranger things have happened.

/I thought I was good at reading. That was until I was told to read a text book for the course I am taking here at Providence College. Any noise what so ever was a distraction and an excuse to stop reading the endless black words on the huge white page. There were many times that I would read for a few minutes and realize that I have no idea what I just read, compelling me to go back and re-read what I just went over. That was never fun since it extended my reading time every time I lost focus. Today, however, the dorm was dead quiet. That was really nice. I got the same amount of reading done as the day before but in half the time. I learned that I am one who needs complete quiet to study, no background noise at all.

/I’m sitting in my dorm room today and my roommate and neighbour started a really odd discussion. I have no idea how this came about but they suddenly started talking about how a “liger” came to being. I won’t go into details but a liger is basically a cross between a male lion and a female tiger. They then started discussing what a “tigon” is, which is the same as a liger but with the tiger as the father and the lion as the mother. They both claimed to see one and proved it using YouTube... they are expert researchers. I’ve learned to expect anything from dorm life.
/I just want to end by saying that this hasn’t been the weirdest discussion yet and I can bet that there will be weirder ones to come.

\I never knew how much I enjoyed hearing about events that go on throughout the world, and news in general, until I stopped hearing about them.
\In high school, I would hear about current happenings from the many familiar people that I saw everyday in school. I even had a history teacher that would tell my class the news every day to try and make us “history buffs”. I thought the news was boring back then and hardly paid attention and never participated in sharing new news during class.
\Then I Graduated and stopped seeing those friends every day and I realized how much I was missing out if I didn’t hear the news. I would see someone occasionally that would know all the current news and he would tell me something big that happened that everyone was supposed to know about. I never started paying more attention to the news but I did find it weird that with all the technology available to me I still didn’t know what was happening in my own province and country. Not to mention my world.
\I’m hoping that I will get into looking up the news this year everyday now that I am in school again. I also hope that I will continue to enjoy it even if I have to work for my own news.

\Good day world! I am now Blogger Kyle, set loose in the world wide web. By the end of this year we will see if that was a good idea or not.
\I hear that twittering has become pretty popular. People will write the things they are doing at that very moment onto a web page so others can see what they are doing… in my opinion kind of creepy. I don’t have a twitter of my own so I’ll use my blog as a testing site to see if I like it or not. Here it goes;
\9:25 - Just woke-up. blah
\9:40 - Only got out of bed now. blah
\9:45 - Time to take a shower. Ya!
\9:50 - Get into my awesome new school clothes
\9:59 - Shoot! I missed breakfast. Oh well. I’ll have some home-baked cookies and a
“Fruit Medley” juice box (super yummy) as I wander around my room
\10:10 - It’s time to kill time by practicing my guitar. I might as well be awesome. Not.
\10:45 - I just realized I have a blog to write today. Better get on that.
\10:48 - Start writing my blog.
\10:50 - Got bored, smashed my computer, and ate a whole party sub from Subway.
\That brings me to present time readers. As you might have guessed, I did not smash my computer, or else I would not be able to write this last bit. Hahaha. I did however get bored and if there was a party sub, I would have eaten some of it. I just needed to spice things up a bit since my life sounded pretty boring up to that point. I think I will have to lay off the twittering until I become a celebrity or an extreme sports player. Or both.
